Amazing Thailand, the most popular tourist destination in Southeast Asia, attracts swamps of visitors intrigued by its strong Buddhism culture, amazing beach getaways, good shopping and eating fun, and historic sites.

Thailand enjoys a tropical and humid climate, with northern regions such as Chiang Mai basking in three seasons whilst the southern peninsular region of Thailand, including Phuket, only have two-seasonal weather. Northern Thailand sees November and May in dry weather with November to February enjoying cooling breezes.

This region also sees May to November through rainy season.

Southern Thailand however, has more clearly defined wet and dry weather, with the west coast experiencing the heaviest rainfall from April through October and east coast having the most rain falls between September and December.

Baht is the official currency used in Thailand with USD being accepted at some of the touristy destinations. It is however, recommended to change your currency to Baht for ease of transactions within the country. If you are visiting Thailand on a free & easy travelling, your mode of transport will most probably be tuk-tuk, taxis, and/or skytrain. Be sure to check the price with your driver before you board the tuk-tuk, and request for the meter to be switched on when hopping on to a taxi.

Night bazaars are a common scene in Thailand, which include the best known Suan Lum night market and Chiang Mai’s night bazaar. Usual night markets also have large open-air food courts where shoppers can rest their feet over cups of good drinks and/or plates of local food. Haggling is a norm here and you can put into good use your bargaining skills should you think that your item is overpriced.

Thai people are usually warm and friendly, and the country enjoys a few festivals that are widely celebrated across the country. One good example is their Songkran festival that falls in the month of April. Visits during this period will get you literally soaking up the fun with water splashing event taking place on the streets!
