Hong Kong, 香港, a SAR (Special Administrative Region) formerly under the British colony, has to date evolved into a fast-paced, populated island that seen 29.5million visitors in year 2008. Hong Kong enjoys the name “Pearl of the Orient” attributing to its beautiful breathtaking landscapes.

For visitors planning to visit Hong Kong, do take note of the subtropical climates in preparation of your travel bags. A general overview of the weather is provided here, however, it will be best to check against the Hong Kong weather forecast station before your trip.

January – February:
Cloudy with occasional cold fronts and dry northerly winds, temperatures may fall below 10°C

March – April:
Pleasant weather with drizzle and fog

May – August:
Hot and humid with occasional showers and thunderstorms

June – September:
Hottest months of the year, temperatures ranging from 26°C to 34°C, likely to experience tropical cyclones

October – December:
Best of the year, breezy with plenty of sunshine

Hong Kong has always been known as a shopping paradise to avid shoppers, especially during summer sales where good buys are up for grabs. In general, Hong Kong Island is a place with many upmarket shopping malls, whereas reasonable and cheaper priced goods are found in the Kowloon area.

Most shops in town are open at 10am, and stays open until midnight. For those night owls, an alternative choice is the aplenty street markets defining the typical Hong Kong’s lifestyle, with Singaporeans favourite being the Ladies Market and Temple Street where price-haggling is a common scene here.

For the Free & Easy travelers, it is advisable to get yourself an Airport Express Tourist Octopus 3-Day Hong Kong Transport Pass which allows you to an an Octopus Card that gives you 3-days unlimited MTR rides, and one/two rides on Airport Express to reach Kowloon and/or Hong Kong Island depending on the values bought.
