Taiwan is segregated into 5 regions, namely:

Northern Taiwan
districts include Taiwan’s capital Taipei, Hsinchu, and Taoyuan (hotspot: Yang Ming Shan)

Eastern Taiwan
districts include Hualien, Yilan, and Taitung (tourist hotspot: Taroko Gorge)

Southern Taiwan
districts include Yunlin, Tainan, Pingtung, Kaohsiung, and Chiayiand the Outlying Islands districts include Penghu, Orchid Island, Matsu, Kinmen, and Green Island

Central Taiwan
districts include Taichung city, Nantou, Miaoli, and Changhua (tourist hotspot: Sun Moon Lake)

Taiwan enjoys a subtropical climate, where good sun and breezy winters embraced the country. The recommended time of the year to visit Taiwan is from October to December, where cool winter makes shopping along the streets a sweat-free event. June to September summer however, can be humid and sweltering with temperatures above 30°C. March to May sees Taiwanese basking in cooling Spring, while autumn period measures higher rainfall in Taiwan.
