What your package?

Most Employer engage licensed employment agency to find a Maid. Very few does direct hiring. Direct hiring happen when the Employer finds his own Maid and does all his own arrangement. There is no fixed service fee if the Employer engage licensed employment agency to handle the legal paper works. The service fee rangesThe service fee ranges from $388 to as high as $1,400. Different agency offer different type of services. Some agencies may offer lower service fee but may have other charges, for examples, extra cost for Maid's first medical check up, collection of work permit card and/or fee for Safety Awareness Course. There are agencies that charge higher service fee and include the full cost, such as air ticket, insurance, security bond, medical check up and all other miscellaneous cost. It is important for Employer to ask the details of the cost and check the terms and conditions of the agency.

What's my liability?

The employer shall employ the worker to perform only household/domestic duties at the residential address as stated in the Work Permit.Upkeep, Maintenance and Well-being 3. The employer shall be responsible for and bear the costs of the worker’s upkeep and maintenance. This includes the provision of adequate food, as well as medical treatment. The employer shall provide safe working conditions and acceptable accommodation for the worker. The worker shall reside at the residential address stated in the Work Permit.

if you treat FDW decently you should not have any problem. Employer shall be responsible for and bearthe cost of FDW 's upkeep and medical requirement and FDW decide to return home employer have to bear repatriation cost.

What will be my total initial cost?

You need settel service fee of $188 to $788, purchase insurance & bond estimate $288.90 and FDW placement fee 7 months to 9 months estimate $2100 to $2400.

How much is the maid levy?

The Levy is $265 per month. However, if your have children aged less than 12 years old or live with elderly persons aged 65 years old and above, the levy is reduced to $170 per month. CPF Board, as the collection agent, collects the Levy on behalf of MOM. For further details on whether you qualify for levy concession.

What documents are needed for a first-time employer?

A employer needs to provide following details to process the FDW work permit application:

  • Identity Card (as well as those of members of employer household)
  • Proof of income in the form of:
    • Notice of Assessment (and that of the spouse if applicable)
    • or employer authority to the Ministry of Manpower to verify employer income (and employer spouse's if applicable) with the Internal Revenue Authority.

What if FDW don't workout?

Counseling & retraining will be provided for FDW, after which employer & FDW communication did not improve a free replacement, meaning, there is no service fee to pay again but Employer need to pay for the insurance and security bond for the next FDW. Employer should give a period of ajustment for FDW to understand their expectation & resposibilities.

First stage, counseling & retraining will be provided for FDW, second stage, if employer & FDW communication did not improve we replace FDW but Employer need to pay for the insurance, security bond and mom charges.
