Multiple Intelligences Immersion
At ChildFirst, we believe that English Immersion and Chinese Immersion are important but not sufficient. We are strong advocates of developing your child's unique talents.
Multiple Intelligences (MI)
The world is too competitive. Just having a good education is necessary but not sufficient for success. To be successful, one must recognise and develop one’s unique talent.
Microsoft founder Bill Gates did not graduate from university and basketball superstar Yao Ming may not be academically accomplished. By traditional education standards where success is synonymous with good grades, they have both failed! Yet they are successful figures in their field today because they were given the opportunity to realise their unique talents.
Do you know how your child is unique and talented?
Harvard University Professor Howard Gardner's famous Theory of Multiple Intelligences (MI) states that every child has eight types of intelligences.
-
Bodily-kinesthetic intelligence is about whole-body and fine-motor co-ordination. Dancers, athletes and craftsmen excel in this intelligence.
-
Interpersonal intelligence involves sensitivity to both verbal and non-verbal communication. Good personal and working relationships are built using this intelligence.
-
Intrapersonal intelligence is about self-awareness. Recognising your own strengths and weaknesses helps in planning your life.
-
Linguistic intelligence is about being word-smart. Thinking, speaking and writing are expressions of this intelligence.
-
Reasoning and recognising patterns and relationships are key aspects of the logical-mathematical intelligence.
-
Musical intelligence is evident in people who are responsive to pitch, melody, rhythm and tone.
-
Naturalist Intelligence is the ability to use all senses to observe details.
-
Spatial intelligence is the ability to think in three-dimensional terms and often involves an active imagination and visualisation.
At ChildFirst, our curriculum activities are designed to exercise all the eight intelligences in your child.
With more than 100 of such activities a year, all your child's MIs will be exercised to discover and to strengthen the stronger intelligences and awaken the dormant ones.
